The new McLaren MP4-12C Spyder made its world debut at the 2012 Pebble Beach Concours in California and this was the perfect opportunity for the guys over Drive to shot a pretty impressive video of the new sports roadster.

The video is featuring Chief designer for McLaren Automotive, Frank Stephenson, who is talking about the designing process on the new 12C Spyder, but is also revealing the secret behind the 12C Spider’s yellow paint job – it has to do with Ayrton Senna. He is also explaining why McLaren got inspired by the best automotive designer in the world: mother nature. Just watch the video and you will find out why!

Just like with the coupe, the new 12C Spyder is powered by a 616 HP 3.8-liter V8 twin turbo engine combined with a 7 Speed SSG dual-clutch transmission. The Spider version will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds and will hit a top speed of 204 mph.
